"Marie was charged to develop and implement an all-new strategy for the Trust’s volunteering service, Marie’s contribution on in the following areas to the Trust was second to none.
Leadership:
Marie influenced and guided the Trust's Voluntary Service teams towards delivering an effective volunteering service; empowering the four volunteering service hospital sites to work together, making decisions which foster and ensure growth.
Strategy Development:
Marie originated, assembled and implemented an all-new 5 year volunteering strategy that, both, raises the profile of volunteering within the Trust and enhances the volunteering offer to existing and potential volunteers. This required complex negotiations across the Trust with a number of stakeholders including finance, HR and clinical partners.
Finance Management:
Marie managed the Voluntary Service budget including pay and non-pay lines - working to ensure all staff pay occurrences were managed as required and appropriate, that all non-pay lines were within agreed parameters.
Human Resources:
Marie managed a staff team of twelve and a volunteering network of some 750 volunteers deployed across seven hospital sites. A significant undertaking that required tact, sensitivity and an understanding of how best to work with volunteers.
Communication:
Along with her department, Marie ensured that the aims and objectives of the Voluntary Service across the Trust and wider into the community; relaying examples of best practice to demonstrate and evidence the impact upon patient benefit and staff wellbeing.
